(Giada Ilacqua)
Giada Ilacqua, known as Voirhumain, is a multimedia artist. Born in Sicily in 1997, she attended the A. Corelli Conservatory in Messina while completing her secondary studies. In 2021, she earned a degree in New Technologies of Art from IED Rome, where she currently lives and works, focusing on motion graphics, visual and decorative arts. In 2024, she created a commissioned carpet for the American rapper A$AP Rocky. Her current artistic research centers on the human quest for humanity within the scribble. After the publication of her work Krun in the art magazine Panta Rei, she inaugurated in February 2025 her first solo exhibition, Voirhumain / Anything endowed with human elements (albeit misplaced) becomes human in our eyes, held at the historic Lavatoio Contumaciale in Rome. In August 2025, she took part in the ninth edition of the Mish Mash Festival with her solo show Dentro l’oltre, hosted at the Milazzo Castle.

“Anything endowed with human elements, even when disassembled, becomes human in our eyes.” Voirhumain reflects on the phenomenon of pareidolia — our tendency to perceive human traits in familiar shapes — questioning humanity’s search for self in a world full of diverse forms of life and languages. Her works investigate whether this primal instinct endures even when human elements are broken down in illogical ways, with the scribble becoming the vehicle of such fragmentation. A spontaneous, ruleless sign born of distraction, the scribble is the trace of a thought that drifts away — a profoundly human gesture that a machine cannot truly perform. From this comes the sense of humanity that pervades Voirhumain’s works, standing in contrast to the alienation often evoked by AI-generated images. The artist elevates the scribble as an authentic human expression, reaffirming — in an era dominated by artificial intelligence — the value of what is human simply because it is human. In this chaotic mark lies an immediate contact with the mystery of mind and life, transformed by Voirhumain into a conscious artistic choice. Through hands, eyes, and other bodily fragments, we always recognize a human being. Humanity has always sought itself through science, poetry, and emotion, finding humanness even in what is not human. Voirhumain thus becomes an invitation to rediscover awareness and the value of our human essence
